Through the lens of decolonization we will discuss the appropriation of Yoga and how to bring the context and heart of Yoga into Asana based classes. This module will be a guide to finding your voice and beginning to find your authenticity in sequencing. It will be a space to look at styles of yoga and how you can listen to your intuition and let your home practice guide you in teaching.

A Home Practice: How to Access Agency on the Mat and Feel Comfortable Flowing on Your Own

In this workshop we will breakdown what home practice is and how to utilize it as a space to cultivate agency on the mat. Through a practice guided by the eight limbs we will look at Yoga in the realm of asana as a tool for creativity and connection. We will discuss sequences that are particularly amenable to the beginner and review pose modifications and cuing that is beginner-friendly. We’ll work together to create a sequence and then will practice teaching it as a team.

TI-MYTT 5HR Modules are eight of 13 modules needed for the completion of the 250HR certification program. You can start with this module or continue on your path through the program. The first three hours of the module is where we nerd out with the teachings and lectures. We will take a 30m lunch break and reconvene with the workshop portion of the module. These last two hours are opened up to the general public//students to practice the teachings of the instructor. This is where you, the trainee will see how to put the nerdy fun stuff in action to students wanting to experience the offering rather than being trained in it. You do not need to be enrolled in the full program to take any portion of the module or workshop :) In total there are 8, 5H modules needed to take to complete the certification program for the 250H Trauma Informed MOTA Yoga Teacher Training. You can take the same module up to two times.
