Workshop Description:
Looking to unlock your arm balancing practice? Get the keys in this weekend workshop as we explore ways to strengthen and mobilize the body, create core stability, and build awareness through the hands. Guidance on specific asana will be provided, e.g. Bhujapidasana, Baby Grasshopper, AstaVakrasana (8-Angle Pose), and Parsva Bakasana (Side Crane). We’ll take a look at stacking joints, feeling your personal balance point, and discuss how to incorporate props in your practice. Bring your questions and pose requests! This is an interactive session, with time for demonstration, group practice, and individual guidance/feedback.
What should the students expect?
Introductions will be followed with warm-ups for the hands, wrists, and shoulders. I will provide some instruction on relevant anatomy and body mechanics. Some prior yoga experience is recommended, but not required. I will offer hand-on physical assistance (and moral support!), which you are welcome to decline. All bodies are welcome.
What to bring:
Wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle, and your yoga mat. Blocks, blankets, and straps are available for use at the studio. You may like a notebook to record actions or helpful tips.
