Endometriosis & Chronic Pain Affinity yoga

  • MOTA 11 Bow Street Somerville, MA, 02143 United States (map)

Description:

An affinity group is a safe space for people linked by a common identity.

Living in chronic pain is a daily challenge of managing our symptoms and hoping that it's a 2/10 pain level day. Finding tools to support health and ease into our bodies can be challenging. In my experience the most common tool offered for chronically-pained bodies is yoga. Most yoga classes don't usually support the nuanced adjustments we need to make in our body to feel a part of that class.

Because most chronically-pained bodies look able-bodied, we are often expected to move with all that the teacher is offering. Sometimes we just need savasana (the final resting pose) and community.

These classes will explore movement that supports the management of pain with many options to take the entire class laying down. We will close with some community hangs to share experiences and tools we use to help navigate our pain.

Special Instructions:

Please feel free to bring whatever you'd like to feel more comfortable in class. If you get there early enough, set up next to an outlet with your heating pad!
