Share a part of your day with Sophie and help make a donation to the #LandBack movement, via the Native Land Conservancy. This all-levels class is being offered in-person and as an interactive virtual livestream.
We'll begin with a few minutes of meditation and a land acknowledgement for Somerville, home of the Massachusett people. If you know the indigenous lands on which you reside or where you grew up, you’ll have a moment to share that via chat or aloud.
And then we do the yoga! Lots of twists to ignite the digestive system, some bird-inspired shapes, and a few yoga nods to the indigenous peoples who first stewarded this land on which we gather.
About NLC
The Native Land Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) organization and the first Native-run land conservation group east of the Mississippi. Its mission is to preserve healthy landscapes for all living things and help restore land back to its original state wherever possible. They draw upon their collective traditional cultural knowledge as indigenous people with generations of direct experience in the woodlands, coastlines, and waterways of New England.
What to bring: Wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle, and your yoga mat. Blocks, blankets, and straps are available for use at the studio.
