Workshop - Functional Biomechanics for a Healthy Yoga Practice: Chronic Pain & Injuries

  • MOTA 11 Bow Street Somerville, MA, 02143 United States (map)

Head, shoulders, knees, and toes (knees and toes)!

Have you ever wondered why we make the shapes we do on our mats during asana practice, what muscles control these movements, or why your teacher suggested that you “microbend your knee” or “pull up on your quad”? Join us at MOTA for a two-hour workshop where we will cover basic biomechanics and postural alignment, discuss how these principles apply to an asana (posture)  practice, and learn how you can use this knowledge to develop an empowered, sustainable practice based on the ebbs and flows of your own body.

What to expect:

  • Learning why we make these shapes

  • What to engage in your practice to be able to be sustainable in your body

  • Own your practice, know how to use the pose for how your body shows up that day
